How do you get rid of the log part? Do you subtract 4 to both sides and then do something with the 5?

First you rewrite the equation in exponential form. The base to the power (what log is equal to) is equal to the argument (what's inside the parentheses). Rewrite it as 5^2 = x+4 and then solve for x! Don't forget it's 5 squared, not 5 times 2. ; )
